- Turn Off the Electricity
Turn off the power in your home before wading into water. If it’s dark, grab a flashlight and be careful. - Turn Your Water Off
Find the shut-off valve to whatever is leaking but the best thing to do is shut the water off at the main valve. This is located next to the water meter, most likely outside your house, and you will need a water key. - Get Your Furniture Out of the Way
